It all started with the closure of the Fire Station here in West End when the cover it provided was transferred to a new fire station at Thornhill. The fledgling West End Local History Society set up its museum in what had become 'The Old Fire Station', now a Community Building and the property of West End Parish Council.
Monthly meetings are held on Wednesday evening (except August) in the nearby Parish Centre, with guest speakers covering such diverse topics as Moorgreen Workhouse, the Buildings of Hampshire, The Liners of Southampton, and The Itchen Navigation.
Our free newsletter
"The Westender" is issued at these meetings, and is also on our web site  Newsletters Archive

The Society is happy to give help and support to personal local history research projects. If you have a little spare time, volunteers are always needed to staff the Museum on Saturdays, help index documents, or organise events and meetings.
Visitors are very welcome to come along to meetings,  or why not take out a
 Membership Subscription.
Annual fees January - December are £12.00 per person all categories - Entrance fee to meetings for non-members is £2.00
